Monochrome print (etching) based on the 1698 original in Weigel's 'Standebuch', itself after a 17th c. (1695) painting showing a spectacle maker in the street with a drop-down sales counter and a customer trying some nose spectacles whilst reading a book. Two lines of German text above and six lines beneath. In a modern antique-style dark wooden glazed frame, inlaid with tortoiseshell panels.
