Bank note printed in red and black featuring, on the obverse, a portrait of the pioneering business woman Mary Reibey (1777-1855) wearing oval eye spectacles low on the nose alongside images of a ship, the Schooner 'Mercury' and a row of early 19th century shops in Sydney and, on the reverse, a portrait of the Reverend John Flynn (1880-1951) founder of the Flying Doctor Service, wearing round eye pince-nez, alongside images of a Flying Ambulance biplane, a graphic of a pedal generator, a medical diagram of the human body and a missionary riding a camel. Includes transparent oval window containing a vignette based on a nautical compass and an aeronautical compass. Signatures of Governor MacFarlane and Secretary Henry.
