Set of brief notes (numbered 1-512), handwritten in black ink on pages of pre-ruled white paper, bound within blue paper-covered cardboard end covers, reinforced with red leather on corners and spine. The notes concern basic student definitions of (e.g.) visual angle, static refraction, accommodation etc. also anatomical information, terminology with regard to the ocular muscles, presbyopia, asthenopia etc. Holmgren's colour vision test. Together with notes from FSMC lectures by Mr Wood and a series of 19 London Refraction Hospital biology/pathology lectures by Dr Preston (delivered between 7th March-12th September 1929) including disease conditions and small sketch diagrams. Together with an LRH teaching handout typewritten on foolscap, comprising three tables: The general plan of the development of the embryo in vertebrates, development of the embryonic plate and plan of the development of primary optic vesicle. Together with a typewritten sheet (possibly an incomplete draft text) on The Whitten Retinoscopic Fixation Attachment, with handwritten notes on Torsions to be found on the reverse.
