Promotional brochure detailing the history of the tonometer, tonometry and tonography. Large format printed in black and silver on thick brown paper, on 24 pages with soft end covers. Includes diagrammatic representations of the instruments of von Graefe (Indentation tonometer 1862), Weber (applanation tonometer 1867), Schiotz (1905), Goldmann (slit lamp tonometer 1954) and introducing the new (1974) Alcon Applanation Pneumatonograph (includes actual size full-colour product photograph as centre page spread). The second half of the brochure outlines the latter instrument's unique sensor design, pneumatic sensor system and advanced solid-state electronic console. Includes further sepia photographs of the instrument in use and a bibliography.
