First issue of an optometry journal published by the GRH (marked as the Hospital Library copy). Portrait format, printed in black and white on 20 pages, with soft end papers, stapled. Front cover bears emblems of a Scottish lion, Edinburgh Castle and a saint. Contents include articles, letters, a notice of the re-modelled hospital's reopening date, a list of Foundation Subscribers 1928, an analysis of the first 800 patients and a photograph of the GRH street frontage at 26-28 Richmond Street. Full-page advertisements for: London Optical Company (Stand mirror), John Baird & Son (mahogany trial case/bronzed adjustable light bracket), Nitsche & Gunther Optical Co (1927) Ltd prescription department, The Hadley Company (Inorim Spectacle Ware) and, on back cover J. R. Fleming Ltd. Smaller advertisements for Butterworths (Edinburgh) Ltd , Willmotts Ltd, Royal Optical Co, Raphael's Ltd (Scientype Transformer), Lever Brothers (Kostules), George Culver Ltd, Scott & Madill, Raphael's Ltd (Synoptiscope/Cosmoid frames/Solution No 10 Cleaning agent).
