Martin to the SMC Director of Examinations, Roland Champness, enclosing his mark paper from the Honours Examination held at Apothecaries Hall on Wednesday 8th June 1949, Part 1 Section M (Applied Optics and Ophthalmic Instruments) and summarising the pass results of nine candidates whilst commenting that 'I am afraid the standard reached has not been very high'.
