Section only of the front cover of the student magazine for the Northampton Polytechnic, Vol 22 No 54, printed in dark red and gold on brown paper bearing the College Student Union coat of arms and motto 'Naturam Ad Usum Tractamus'. Together with a clipping from page 12 of that publication, being an account by the Honorary Secretary (Philip Cole) of the programme of the student Optical Society in the year 1941-42 and reference to the Chairman (Norman Bier's) concise speech at a student tea.
