Nuremberg Masterpiece spectacles. Hand-carved ('ausgegraben') filigree frame of red buffalo horn. Scalloped upper edge comprising 39 small heart symbols with, beneath, 12 larger hearts and, beneath those, four slits with a Y-shaped slit to either side of those. In the centre of the bridge are a row of five three or four-leaf clover symbols, surrounded by further hearts and acorns. Beneath the bridge are two scrolls. Round eye rims, glazed with greenish glass, now frosted with age.
