Handwritten and illuminated testimonial to William Thornthwaite, Master of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers 1898-9, President of the Optical Society etc. from the undersigned Freemen and Liverymen of the Company. Bound in red leather with tooled gold decoration. Inscribed alphabetically with the names of individuals and organisations. Includes an illustration of the arms of the City of London and the pseudo-heraldic device of the Company. Dated Thursday 31st May 1900.
