Trade card of W. & S. Jones, No 30 Lower Holborn, London, printed with illustration of various wares including a Bate-type pair of sprung folding eyeglasses, two quizzing glasses, steel spectacles with turnpin sides, tortoiseshell spectacles with straight tapering sides, metal wire D-Spectacles, steel oval eye spectacles with straight sides and an Adams-type lorgnette, plus a depiction of Archimedes seated by a table with planisphere. Two columns of text describing, in the first column, spectacles and lenses and, in the second column, other scientific instruments manufactured and sold. Also a list of scientific books and essays for sale. Includes prices. On the reverse 'A Proof of the Fallacy of an asserted New Principle and Improvement in the Figures of Spectacle Glasses termed Periscopic Spectacles, by W.H. Wollaston; or a Vindication of the Superiority of the Double Convex and Double Concave Forms hitherto adopted. By W. Jones, Optician, &c.' illustrated with three ray diagrams and annotated in ink by an historic hand.
