20th century reproduction of an early 19th c. engraving, as printed on the British Optical Association's own press and supplied to members with copies of the Dioptric Review under the caption 'This engraving from the British Optical Association Museum, entitled "The Scholars on their Travels," is a reproduction from an old Nuremberg print caricaturing the impracticable efforts of philosophers to discover utopia in savage lands'. Mounted with maroon card, housed in an early 21st century red wood and glazed frame with internal gilt surround.
