Wooden trial case with hinged and recessed lid, brass hinges, keyhole with shield-shaped escutcheon and two broken clasps. Manufacturer's plate on inner wooden rim. Very dark blue velvet lining to lid and interior. Fixed lens rack containing only 100 spherical and 48 cylindrical lenses, in white metal (concave) or yellow metal (convex) rims with decorative handles and powers marked on them. (One spherical convex lens is a later replacement). Also six prismatic lenses, an occluder, a stenopaeic slit and an empty accessory compartment.
