Cartoon excerpted from a Victorian-era American magazine, comprising an advertisement for an optical company, the first in a series, showing an old lady, old man and their doctor seated at a round table, the old man unable to read his newspaper which appears to bear no legible text, and the lady saying she can't thread her needle because she bought her spectacles off a peddler. The Doctor, holding a pair of spectacles, interjects that they should get a pair of King's as they are the best. Upper portion cropped. Beneath that, an advertisement for King's New System, availble only from C. F. Foster, Jeweler and Optician, Greenfield MA, and not from peddlers. Printed in black and white on both sides of a single sheet of paper (content of front catalogued separately. Upper left corner clipped.
