Armed Services educational exercise book used by Leading Aircraftman [Denis] White, part of an archive documenting his training as an ophthalmic optician. White paper, ruled in blue, with soft RAF blue end papers, stapled. Handwritten contents, subject: Laboratory Reports Ophthalmic Lenses. Dated notes from 3 October 1946-18 March 1948. Topics include: lens power estimation, determination of surface powers and forms of spherical lenses, power and neutralisation of spheres, astigmatic lenses - location of cylinder surface and its axis direction, astigmatic lenses - determiantion of principal powers and forms of lenses, neutralisation of sphero-cylinder lenses, use of the Lens Measure, determination of meridian powers of toric lenses, neutralisation of toric lenses, measurement of deviation by tangent scale, axis marking and setting, prisms, decentration of sphere lenses.
