Armed Services educational exercise book used by Leading Aircraftman [Denis] White, part of an archive documenting his training as an ophthalmic optician. White paper, ruled in blue, with soft RAF blue end papers, stapled. Handwritten contents, subject: Laboratory Reports Optics. Dated notes from 13 October 1946-21 April 1948. Topics include: light pencils, spreading of light and reflection, reflection at two mirrors in succession, refraction and refractive index, total reflection, refractive index of a prism, focal length of a positive lens, focal length of a negative lens, focal length and power of lenses, graphical construction of a refracted ray, principle of the spherometer, the spherometer, radius of curvature of a convex mirror, , measurement of refractive index of a concave lens, measurement of refractive index of a convex lens, to determine focal length of a convex lens (mirror method), the spectrometer, measurement of focal lengths of sphero-cylindrical lenses.
