Educational exercise book used by Denis White, part of an archive documenting his training as an ophthalmic optician. White paper, ruled in blue, with soft, textured black end papers, stapled. Handwritten contents, subject: Visual Optics Laboratory Reports. Some notes dated between 11 October 1948-15 January 1950. Also includes sketches. Topics include: recording of vision, construction of test types, the effect of sphere lenses on vision, the simple optometer, near point rule or pointer, measurement of the near point of accommodation (negative lens method), amplitude of relative accommodation, amplitude of relative convergence, retinoscopy (including for spherical ametropia and astigmatism, the blind spot, perimeter, stereo campimeter, Fincham Stereo-Fixation device, Slit Lamp. Includes tutor's marking, initialled CLR (C. L. Redding).
